blessing of the fleet

ASCENSION DAY, THURSDAY, May 10, 2018

Worship Service, Blessing of the Boats & Fish Fry

behind Brotula's Restaurant in Destin

This Destin tradition was created 60 years ago to ask God's blessing over each boat in the Fishing Fleet. It has now expanded to prayers for any vessel, captain and crew who makes their living from the sea.

The Fleet Blessing begins with an outdoor Ascension Day Service behind Brotula's Restaurant. After the service, Destin pastors proceed to the docks to bless the passing vessels. 152 boats were blessed in 2017. Meanwhile the Blessing Fish Fry welcomes more than 400 diners to enjoy great local food with a view of the harbor.

Beginning in March, Boat Captains/Owners may register their vessels by calling 850.837.6324 or emailing your Boat Name, Captain's Name, Address and Phone Number to immanuel@iacdestin.org.

For the past 15 years, Destin-area churches, civic leaders and businesses have joined together to offer a variety of additional events during the week of Ascension Day. "Destin's Week of Blessings" offers faith-focused, family-oriented activities which create greater opportunities to bless and support the Destin community.

As always, Thursday's Blessing of the Fleet is hosted by Immanuel Anglican Church. Immanuel is excited to team with other area churches who share the vision of preserving Destin’s character as a faith-and-family-oriented community.

family fishing day

FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND in JUNE

Immanuel families enjoy a day of deep-sea fishing on the Gulf every June. Kids, grandkids, moms and grandfathers are all welcome aboard a Pelican Adventure boat for half a day on the open sea. Catch red snapper, mackerel, mahi-mahi, amberjack and more -- it's all in a day's fun!
